Food-product label checklist before production

Control label data sources, artwork, approvals, print checks, and version changes.

A label connects product information, regulatory requirements, and customer use. A single data source and clear approval path matter more than late corrections.

Decisions to align

Use these prompts to begin the conversation. Adjust the depth of review to your organization’s risk, scale, and requirements.

  1. Product name, composition, allergens, net quantity, lot, date, and storage.
  2. Business identity, certification information, and verified claims.
  3. Pack size, print area, legibility, language, and information placement.
  4. Who reviews content, regulation, artwork, and the first print result.

Working evidence to retain

Concise records help the team understand earlier decisions, control changes, and review outcomes without relying on memory.

  • Master label copy and the source for every statement.
  • Artwork version number and approval evidence.
  • A print sample or photograph from the initial check.
  • Version change date and handling of old packaging stock.
